Curator’s Annual Report
“During the year under review,” says the annual the curator of the Wellington Zoo, Mr. C. J. Cutter, the attendance of adult persons was 54,136. The proportion of children seems to remain constant at 24 children to one adult. This would indicate a total attendance of 190.476. Elephant and camel rides remain as popular as ever. Prominent visitors from overseas have not been much in evidence because of the war, but calls were made by Drs. Wilmer and Savage, and Professor Quain.
A pleasing feature has been the increase in the number of regular visitors, as indicated by the growing register of annual ticket-holders. As usual, many organized parties of school children attended during the year. Occasional visits were made t» some schools by the curator, when talks on natural history were given. Two interesting educational features added this year were the observation bee-hive, which operates during the honey-pro-ducing season, and the preparation of a fairly comprehensive series of histological slides, ot which a large numPer of students have made use,
