BIG TROOP LINER TORPEDOED

Convoy To Libya

LONDON, May 28.

An Admiralty communique states that British submarines have torpedoed an 18,000-ton enemy troopship.and several other ships taking reinforcements and supplies to Libya. The 18.000-ton liner was hit by two torpedoes and is considered to have been sunk. It was heavily escorted and is believed to have had 3000 troops aboard.

A French tanker of 5000 tons pro ceeding toward Tripoli and escorted by Italian warships was torpedoed and sunk. A 5000-ton supply 'ship was hit by a torpedo and probably sank, and a heavily-laden oil tanker of 4000 tons was also hit by a torpedo. It is now known that an Italian destroyer, previously described as probably sunk last Friday was sunk.-
