Dry Trails For Saturday’s Outings

Fine w< al lies’ and dry trails were enjoyed by tho harrier <-litbs of Wellington for uieir weekly runs on Sal unlay afternoon. when large fields turned out. Hutt Valley Club.—The run was from Hull Park, the members being the guests of Hie president, Mr. M. Gough. There was a good al tendance of supporters ami friends. About 22 runners sei off in llin-e packs to traverse a trail about six miles. In the lirst pack good form was shown by .1, M. (.'reside, L. Mallowes and T. Rogers, and in tlie second pack the lies; were T. Hurly. K. Miles and R. Robbie. Hi the third pack. L. Brunitte. the winner of the previous week’s handicap, proved toe good for N. Taylor, the young i miner who won the novice race, with G. Reardon the best of the other runners. This (rail was laid by M. Gough. E. Petersen. A. Mack and H. Walker. The traillayers, splitting up into two parties, held a sprint over the last 100 yards, the veteran. E. Petersen, beating Ihe youthful president, M. Gough, who just beat Ihe handicapper. A. Mack. The club captain, T. Shaw, thanked the president for the enjoyable afternoon tea. which was served by Mrs. M. Gough and her supporters. Next Saturday the Craig Rose Bowl teams race will be held al Hutt Park, comiiienring at •”» p.m.. wet or film.

Presbyterian Club. A run of live miles was held from St. Andrew’s Church. 25 members participating. The nail led up lo Wadestown, round Wilton Road, and Pack over Northland, the slow pack going down Kai warm stream. A. (.'ongalt on. B. Leighton and J. Berry showed up. the lastnamed having jnsj returned from a spell of military training. Next Saturday’s run will bo from Karori.
