To investigate the possibility of obtaining a loaf nutritionally acceptable to professional interests and technically practicable for bakers and acceptable to Hie public, a nutritional committee has been formed in Auckland, states the secretary of the Master Bakers’ Association, Mr. R. S. Harrop. A committee lias approved of tlie introduction of wheat germ bread and is testing samples of wholemeal from till the mills in New Zealand. A loaf made from 100 per cent, wholemeal by a method not previously used is. in the opinion of experts, superior to any wholemeal loaf previcuslj’ seen in Auckland, be says. The committee is working in close contact with the Department of Health and Wheat Research Institute.
