Letters From Middle East

RUGBY, May 13.

The first batch of 50,000 letters under the newly-instituted airgraph service from the Middle East to Britain has arrived in London. The letters, on films which have been flown all the way, weighed only 131 b.. whereas 50,000 ordinary letters would have weighed nearly three-quarters of a ton. As soon as the letter arrived experts began to enlarge them from the size of a fingernail to four inches by five.

EARL OF SUFFOLK AMONG AIR RAID VICTIMS

LONDON. May 13. The Earl of Suffolk and six soldiers were killed on Monday by a bomb.

The twentieth Ear! of Suffolk and Berkshire (the title was created In 1603) was 35 years old and succeeded to the title in 1917. He was a prominent scienist, sailed round the world before the mast of a sailing ship, and also worked on a large farm in Australia. He was noted for his picture gallery and collection of old masters.
