LICENCE FOR SLIPWAY DECLINED

xAji application for a licence to construct a slipway on Hie west beach, Island Bay, for the repair of boats was rejected by the Wellington City Council yesterday on the recommendation of the beaches committee. The chairman of the committee, Cr. W. Duncan, said the proposal baa been reported against by the city engineer and the majority of the committee decided not to recommend it. Cr. P. JI. Butler said it had been proposed to take for industrial purposes an angle of the beach which people used at present.
