(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, May 14. There were fair yardiugs at the Burnside sale, when prices tor cattle and sheep were inclined to ease. Lambs aud Cat pigs, however, sold firmly. Fat cattle: A large entry of approximately 300 head of fat cattle was penned. iVith’the exception of a lew prime consignments, the yarding was mostly of mixed quality. The sale opened on a par with last week for prime quality, with medium and unfinished descriptions meeting with a slow inquiry. Brices eased later, particularly for cows and heifers, and inferior steers, the drop in these two classes being from 10/- to 15/- a head. Prime heavy ox made to £l6/7/6, prime £l3/7/6 to £l5/17/6, medium £9/12/6 to £ll/7/6; extra prime cows and heifers to £ll/17/6, prime £S/2/6 to £9/2/6, medium £6/2/6 to £7/7/6, light £4/2/6 to £5/7/6. Store cattle: There was a small entry of 150 store cattle, made up principally of two and two and a half-year-old steers, and the usual yarding of boner cows. Good coloured steers made from £6/2/6 to £7/10/-. Dairy cows: A small yarding of 12 dairy cows was forward, good, close to lirofit sorts making £ll/10/- to £l2. Eat sheep: In the fat sheep section a large entry of 2800 was forward. The bulk comprised ewes will) a good percentage of oid hill wethers. Primo quality young butchers’ wethers sold ou a par with last week’s sale, but ewes and overweight halfbred wethers met. with a flow aud dragging demand. Medium to prime ewes were 2/-•easier, and wethers unsuitable for butchers and exporters were difficult to quit. Extra prune heavy wethers made to 29/9; prime heavy, 24/- to 27/3; prime, 21/6 to 23/3: extra prime heavy young ewes, to 17/3; prime, 13/to 14/9; medium, 10/- to 11/6; light, from 5/6. Fat lambs: Fat lambs had a medium entry of about 1000. Some good quality was included, but the bulk comprised medium to light descriptions. Prices can be quoted firm for all classes of killable iambs. Extra prime lambs made to 34/-; prime, 25/- to 28/-; medium, 22/- to 24/3; light, to 20/-. Fat pigs: A small entry of 115 j.'it pigs came forward, heavy baconers being in short supply. All classes sold under keen demand, and can be quoted 5/- a head up on last week's rates.
Store pigs: There was a .small entry ol 21 store pigs, mostly weaners, and these sold freely at an increase of from 5/- to 8/- a head.
