BOWLERS’ RESPONSE
£lOBO For Patriotic Funds
One thousand and eighty pounds had been handed over by the Wellington Bowling Centre for patriotic funds, it was reported at the monthly meeting of the centre’s committee on Tuesday night. This amount included £22 prize money donated by bowlers at the Easter tournament, and’also £64 taken at a recent gala day on the Wellington green, ' Reference to the death of the secretary, Mr. A. F. Spiller, was made by the president, Mr. T. Lock. Letters of regret had been received from the clubs of the centre and from the New Zealand Council, of which Mr. Spiller had been a past secretary. Mr. Lock also referred to the loss to various clubs by the deaths of the following:—Sir Charles Luke, Kelbr.rn and Newtown; Messrs. H. Shephard, Hataitai; J. Laughton, Seatoun; J. Keith, Victoria; J. K. Patou. Island Bay: C. B. Robinson, Woburn; G. B. Stephenson, Newtown; Allcsery-Jones, Karori; D. Sturrock, Wellington.
