A SUMMARY OF THE SITUATION
The R A F has made its greatest onslaught on Germany, against targets principally in Hamburg and Bremen. Hie Germans again heavilv raided a number of areas in Britain and caused considerable damage in the Humber area, the north Midlands and elsewhere Nigh - fßhters brought down at least 11 raiders. Previously daylight taids were again made in force but unsuccessfully against south-east EngReports indicate that the Germans and Italians are prepaimg lot a multiple offensive in the .Middle and Near East and are concentrating forces, including air-borne troops, for attacks in Ct ete, the Western Desert, and Iraq. Germany is reported to be demanding, with threats of force, a troop passage through Syria. r . The Iraqi rebels are said to feel that the Germans have failed them, leaving them in a desperate situation. 'Hie R.A ; F. has bombed the Bagdad airport. British patrols arc penetrating into Iraq from the direction of Palestine. A new and evidently heavy German attack on Jobruk has been defeated with great enemy loss, blame-throwing tanks and infantry were iwed. British progress continues in Abyssinia
