Majority Interest In Four

Air Lines

i Received May 8, 5-30 p.m. t MONTREAL. May 7.

At the annual meeting of the Cattail ian Pacific Railway Company, Limited, the president, Sir Edward Beatty, announced that the company had acquired a majority interest in four air lines operating in western Canada. lie said that the war would demand a curtailment of non-military production on a scale never before attempted. and there must be some loss of economic liberty. Only by controls over production and distribution through the financial mechanism and direct measures could a growing proportion he diverted to the national ser vice.

Sir Edward disclosed that two C.P.K. vessels of the Beaver class had been sunk by enemy action.
