PRESENTATION MADE

Staff Member Guest Of College Auxiliary

A delightful afternoon was held yesterday by the Wellington Technical College Women’s Auxiliary in honour of Miss McQuirter, who is leaving the staff of the college.

Mrs. I’. Fraser, wife of the Prime Minister, paid a tribute to Miss McQuirter’s work in supervising the sewing classes at the college for the Women’s War • Service Auxiliary, and thanked her for the help she had given to the organization. A presentation was made to the guest of honour, and she also received a bouquet of lovely 7 Howers. Others present included Miss Robertson, a former woman head teacher at the college, and Mrs. Ridling, wife of the director and a vice-president of the auxiliary.

An enjoyable programme was presented, items being given by Mrs. McIntyre, elocutionary numbers, Mrs. Ody ami Mrs. Halverson, songs, and Mrs. London pianoforte solos. A profusion of Howers decorated the rooms, and gifts of Howers were made to 1 he special guests and to the artists. Mrs. M. J. Bentley, president of Ihe auxiliary, welcomed the guests.

St. Stephen’s Women’s Association. A successful “Dutch auction” in aid of the association’s funds was held at the May meeting of St. Stephen’s Association in the church ball, Lower Hutt. Miss Ethel Steele presided. The afternoon was of a social nature. Mesdames Henry and H. Cole being the conveners. The hostesses were Mesdames G. G. Littlejohn, A. Gerrie, Hart, H. W. Kersley, Jones, Humphries and Hoy.
