EGMONT RACES

Very Large Acceptances FIELDS FOR TODAY

Horses In Form

(By

The Watcher.)

Very large fields have accepted for the opening of the Egmont Racing Club s winter meeting at Hawera today; in fact the club has received almost an embarrassment of riches. The smallest field ot the day is 14 in the Tongahoe Hurdles, and they range up to 23 in the principal flat race, the Mcßae Cup, and 24 m the hack scurry. As the latter race is run over five furlongs, post positions in this as in many of the flat events, will have a decided bearing. With the clearance of the weather prospects are favourable for a successful meeting, and the track will be in good winter order. . . Horses that have not made the trip include Hunting Chorus and Little Robin, Amigo has been scratched for the Mcßae Cup. T. George will have Circular Note, Piastre and Ruling Star at the meeting. Riding engagements include: —H. Wiggins, Grandora ; W. TV. Thomson, Filbert, Night Ray, Vai Pere, Ra Rena; A. Lord, Mataroa, Tigreterre; H. Maria, Parokura; D. J. Burgess, Bridegroom; P. Brady, Riotous; A. Jenkins, Parlato, Gold Card, Rollicker, Chat; H. P. Stewart, Desert Tide, Last Acre, Wildfire: J. H. Mcßae, Dozie Boy; J. Graham, Alexcelia (Cup), Calliope; G. P._ Dowrick, Glenvane, Eupatrid; L. Dulieii, Kaiwaka, Tidewaiter, Noble Fox; S. Parramore, Sunny Knight; S. Waddell, Endorsement, Gay Fox, Fly-by-Night; D. Redstone, Authoress.
