The executive council of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture met recently when Dr. W. R. B* Oliver (chair), Messrs. J. G. MacKenzie, W. K. Dallas, W C Hyde, G. Cooper, H. L. Cummings, and G. S. Nicoll (Dominion secretary), We O D P <S“Ut ,1 the Horticultural division, an application from A. G. sains bury for recording of his strawberry, Victory, as a new variety, was approved. It was noted that Mr. G D. Hyde, Lower Hutt, winner of the J. R. Campbell Memorial Award for the best slut ent in the intermediate examination, L lb, uau selected L. H. Bailey's "The Standard Cvclopedia of Horticulture,’ to the cost of" which the institute's trust fund would contribute £5/10/-.
