Spectacular Movie Ball

Guests at the Movie Queen Ball for Victory Carnival funds on Friday night will have a breathless evening of nonstop gaiety planned for their entertainment. The decoration? will Suggest an Hawaiian atmosphere, and leis and other novelties will be offered the dancers for their adornment. Two excellent bands will provide the music, and there will be special floor shows. Other diversions will include a parade of sets of representative characters from recent movies, and there will be prizes for the best impersonations of cinema stars.

The Movie Queen, Mrs. A. Ben Fuller, and her six princesses, will be in attendance, and it is anticipated that the ball will be one of the social highlights of the season.

“White Elephant” Sale Today. The 'Wellington Free Kindergarten Council met on Monday, Mrs. J. A. IJoctor presiding. One of the chief items of business was the arrangement for the auction of “White Elephants,” which will be. held today at the residence of Mrs. Guy Didsbury, Very beautiful, gifts have been donated, and it is anticipated that this effort will be a great success. Cakes and produce will also be sold. The sale opens at 10.30 a.m. and will continue till the goods are sold. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day. The Kindergartens and office will cluse at the eud of this week for the term holidays. ■

Catholic Services Club. St. Mary’s Old Girls’ Association was sponsor of this weekend’s entertainment at the Catholic Services Club, Wellington. Many soldiers were enjoying their first weekend leave at the club and expressed appreciation of the dancing and also the excellent tea provided on Sunday evening. Miss K. Jansen, hostess, thanks all those who generously donated food for the weekend. Among those who helped were Mesdames Campbell, Carmody, Villars, Thwaites and Misses M. O’Neill, K. Bourke, M. Butler, ikeila Patterson, Shona Roband, Patricia and Joan Kelly and Mary Leydon. Tea Dance Tonight.

Invitation-holders are reminded of the tea dance which will be held tonight at 5.30 in Miss Gwennythe Walshe's studio, 'Willis Street, Wellington.

Captain and Mrs. A. R. Champion left Wellington last night for Christchurch.
