PRESSURE UP TO EMBARKATION LONDON, April 29. The acting-Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. Fadden, announced in Sydney today: “The evacuation of Greece is proceeding, and Imperial forces are conducting themselves with great heroism in the face of heavy enemy pressure. Many of our troops have now left Greece after stubbornly contesting the enemy s advance even to the last few inches of Greek soil. “Unfortunately, we cannot hope to avoid casualties, and we must be prepared, Mr. Fadden added. The nation will be told the full story at the earliest possible moment. Meanwhile, I know Australia will wait with courage and resolution.” ' , ' In his previous statement, made yesterday, Mr. radden would neither confirm nor deny United States reports that the majority of the Anzacs had been safely evacuated, with their weapons. “No official statement is likely to be made yet about the evacuation from Greece, but there is every prospect that a substantial proportion of the force has reached safety,” said the London “Evening Standard” yesterday. Transports cannot use wireless without giving away their position to the enemy, and consequently the numbers on board cannot be sent by radio.
