Shooting Of Hen Birds

A new feature of the shooting season opening on May 3 will be the authority given licence-holders to shoot hen pheasants in two of the Dominion acclimatization districts —Rotorua and Wellington. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, stated on Thursday that in all other acclimatization districts where there was a season for pheasants, cock birds only could be shot. The season for hen pheasants in the Rotorua and Wellington acclimatization districts was from May 3 to May 18 Inclusive. The balance of the pheasant shooting, season was restricted to cock birds.
