Statistics For 1940-41 Season
The Heinemann Cup, annually competed for among teams in the Wellington Mercantile. Cricket: League’s competitions, was won this season by Amalgamated Bricks (A grade). The trophy is awarded to the team with the best scoring average. Details, as compiled by the recording secretary to the league, Mr. E, R. Majtim are;— Amalgamated Bricks, runs for, 3398, average 30.61; runs against, 2576, average 14; plus average, 16.61. Customs Department, 3954 and 28.86, 2106 and 15.42, plus average 13.44; Wellington Taxis, 2723 and 24.31, 1787 and 11.76, plus average 12.55. The next teams were Prestige Hosiery, plus 9.99, Celtic, plus 9,30, Thompson Bros,, plus 9.10, Grey Cabs, plus 8.74, Taubmans plus 8.70. S. -Brooks (Central) was the highest scorer in the league with 924 runs, and O. W. Norris (Empire Bos), with 80 wickets, secured the greatest number of wickets. The best all-rounder for the season w r as H. R. White (Customs'Department), with 843 runs and 51 wickets. Other details are:—
