TORPEDO-BOATS
American Mosquito Craft
For Britain
WASHINGTON. April 23.
Colonel Knox, Secretary of the Navy, said that about 20 fast naval motor torpedo-boats were ready for delivery to Britain, and possibly were on the way now. He said the boats were capable of speeds of more than a mile a minute, and were shipped across rather than sent on the Atlantic voyage under their own power. Eight additional ships of this type would soon lie available, and other mosquito craft capable of a speed of TO miles an hour were being constructed. Colonel Knox told his Press conference that the navy was negotiating with Canada for the construction in Canada of a number of warships of .the new British corvette type used to escort convoys.
Mr. Frank Mason, vice-president of the National Broadcasting Company, will enter the Public Relations Division of the Navy on May .1 to handle the publicity of navy matters pertaining to broadcasting.
