Several Clubs Hold Openings Ideal conditions favoured those golf clubs which opened their winter seasons during the weekend and all the links were crowded. Miramar Club.—On Saturday the openinrr of the 1941 season took place when 68 pairs participated in a mixed bogey competition. J. B. Hatrick and Mrs.’ J. R. Hughes won with a score of one down. The next best were H. A. Black and Miss F. Davis, three down, and C. Monroe and Miss Stevens,, three down. Hutt Club. —Fine weather favoured the opening of the Hutt Golf Clubs season on Saturday afternoon. In the absence of the nresident on military service, the captain, Mr M Paulin, welcomed visitors and new members. -Sixty-two couples took part in a mixed foursome bogey. The 'best card handed in was that ot Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Wilson, one down. , The final of the Minesweepers Trophy over 36 -holes was played yesterday, D. M. Wilson beating G. C. Phillips, 5 and 4. A stabletord played yesterday was won by I. A. H. -Symes, 3» points, with L, B. Har ris 34 points, runner-u-p. ' Tltabi Club.—The Titahl club opened its winter season yesterday in perfect weather The course was in excellent condition and there was a large attendance of members and visitors. The Mr E. Johnston, drove the first ball ot the season. A mixed foursome stroke competition over 12 holes for the Harold - linnm Cun was won bj’ Miss Hollis ana J Hughes, 55 9-16. The runners-up were Miss Adams and L. C. Bydder, 58-11-41. After the match the president welcomed the visitors.and expressed pleasure, at the attendance. He also read a telegram from the club captain, Mr. P. W. Maddock, who ■was unable to be present. Mrs. E. John ston presented the .cup to the .winners of the day's competition, and also to the winner of t ho Crichton Summer Cup W’hich was won by S. Williams, trilli I score of 262 for the four best net stroke rounds during the summer season. The runner-up was L. C. Bydder, with a score Club. —The opening of the Boulcott club’s season was held yesterday afternoon in beautiful weather bet ore a good attendance of old and new players and friends. The president, Mr. K. O'Connell, welcomed the players and declared the season opened. The club captain Mr J. Slade, drove the first ball.
