HOME GUARD ACTIVITIES
Seatoun-Stratlimore Aren. —A route march to Point Halswell was carried out by a good muster of Home Guardsmen from the Seatoun-Strathmore Unit on Saturday. On the inarch signallers laid posts along the route, enabling them to make communication back to the base within- a few minutes. “Casualties” were attended by the stretcher-bearer section. Fieldcraft and exercises were undertaken on the hillsides along the rout£. Permanent n.c.o. appointments were announced at the weekly parade on Monday night. Melrose-Houghton Valley.—The subarea Home Guard held a successful parade at the Houghton Valley hall on Monday evening. Great enthusiasm is being shown by members of the N.C.O, class who are each studying some selected phase of military activities in order that by so specializing, the class .may become of the greatest possible instructional value to the unit. The next full parade will be held at Sutherland Park, Melrose, on Monday at 7,30 p.m,, when any new recruits who would like to join will be welcome. ■
