HOW TO WIN A PRIZE
Our Special Colouring Competition JJEAR Girls and Hoys, '* Baby Graham was carried into Junior Room, a squally bundle 'nil-of angry noises and indignant wrist-thumps. Then he caught sight of the bright orange feather on my hat and lay looking at it. He cooed with delight. The tears vanished in a twinkle and soon he teas bouncing up and down in his mother's arms, a cherubic babe if ever there was one. And that set me thinking about the wonderful effect of Colour. Have you ever thought how dull and drab the ice*-id would be if there wasn't any colour in it- at all? The impressions we get from the play of sunbeams on water, rooftops and trees amaze and. delight us, and even the cold skies of autumn are drenched- with fascinating tints. Ever since the beginning of things man has. been attracted by colour —rough pieces of streaky clay were his first paints, his canvas a slab of smooth 'rock. We still realize the glamour and appeal of colour, and are always drawn irresistibly toward the shades tfihich make for beauty and harmony, and add gaiety where ugliness once lurked. A« you can see, there is a Colouring Competition in this week's Page, so I shall have to hurry and tell you about its rules and regulations. For this it an extra-special competition and is not confined to members alone—any boy or girl who has not reached the age of IS may enter our contest. Nor need there be any restriction on the number of country dwellers who would like to try, too; this competition is not for TTcZlington people alone. Any outstanding efforts from anywhere in the Wellington Province will be rewarded with a guest pass to see the film at the local picture theatre. Paramount Pictures, in conjunction soith the management of the Regent Theatre, are offering g First Prize of 10/-; the second prise is 6/- and there are six Consolation prizes of guest passes to see the picture from which our scene has been taken—" North West Mounted Police.’’ It opens at the Regent Theatre, Wellington, on April 3, and the Regent Theatre, Palmerston North, on April 12. I went .to see the picture myself and found that it had been photographed in colour, from start to finish—the whole eleven thousand odd feet of it! So come along, girls and boys, and sec how neatly you can plan a colour scheme for this scene from the exciting ‘'mountie” film! Mount it on a piece of plain card, mark your age, name (pen-name, too, if you are a Page member'), and address, on the back, and
post your entry to me not later than ne.rt (April 5). Gool Luck !
