SMALL TEAM FOR TRENTHAM
Wanganui Horses Galloped
Dominion Special Service.
WANGANUI, March 8. The Wanganui team for Trentham will be small but very select, comprising Amigo, Sir Beau and Celle Cane. Sir Beau looked well when he left for New Plymouth as if he would be all the better for a race, and by Saturday he should be at his best. Belle Cane is freshening up nicely after being physicked, and she promises to be at the peak of her form for the Thompson Handicap. .She has not done much fast work lately; but she looks in great -heart. Amigo has thrown ' off the soreness which troubled him recently, and he has been hitting out very freely. This morning, with Miss Rita Jackson in the saddle he went five furlongs on the course proper by himself and registered 1.4 1-5, being eased up over the last bit. W. Rayner intends taking Homily, Dynasty, Ringcraft and Curtail to Awapuni for the Manawatu meeting. This morning on No. 1 track, Dynasty, with his trainer in the saddle, finished ■two lengths ahead of Curtail at the end of six furlongs run in 1.16 1-5. Dynasty was wide out and it was a good effort. The Posterity gelding looks all the better for his race at Bulls. z
Eurotas was given a run over six furfurlongs by himself, registering 1.18 1-5. The race he had at Bulls has improved him. The Midian —Cynota two-year-old in W. Thacker’s stable was accompanied by the Pomball filly which J. Boyd has in work in a sprint over three furlongs on No. 1 track, the former finishing in front in 37 1-5. She is to make her debut at Feilding.
