REPORTED NOTE
Rumour of Troop Move Over. Frontier LONDON, March 9. One thing that is clear amid the somewhat confusing reports from the Balkans is that the Germans expect to bring the maximum pressure to bear on Greece within the next few days. Latest news comes only by way of unconfirmed reports. One says that the German Minister in Athens has presented a Note to the Greek Prime Minister from his Government, another that German troops have crossed the Greek frontier. Neither of these reports, however, is confirmed, and the report of German troop movements is unofficially denied in Berlin. In the meantime Belgrade, the capital of Yugoslavia, has become the centre of great political activity. The Turkiish attitude toward developments in the Balkans is again made clear by the statement of a high Turkish official who has urged Yugoslavia to realize the true situation. “Tiny Greece by her heroism has shown that when one’s' home is menaced it is one’s sacred duty to take up arms,” he said. He added that Turkey would take action when her independence and integrity were threatened. Such action would be in collaboration with Britain.
