PRISON TERM FOR ASSAULT

BLENHEIM. March 6.
John Magee, aged 53, cook, was sentenced to 27 months’ imprisonment, with hard labour, after being found guilty of indecently assaulting a girl aged' seven. His Honour Mr. Justice Kennedy described the case as bad, pointing out that the prisoner was guilty of a similar offence in Masterton some years ago. On a similar charge against William Lawson, aged 61, labourer, the jury disagreed and a new trial was ordered.
