“I pray, God, that trouble will not come* to the Pacific,” said Sir Harry Batterbee, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand, speaking at the opening of the Wadestown Cottage Garden and Beautifying Society’s autumn show last night, “but it is right that we be prepared.” Sir Harry complimented Wadestown men for their enthusiasm in the Home Guard, but reminded his listeners not to forget the E.P. scheme, which was equally important. It was up to all to do everything they cottld to help in the. successful prosecution of the war.
