Victoria League Honours

Miss E. Gardiner

The Victoria League room, Wellington, was packed to capacity yesterday, when a special morning tea party was held in honour of Miss Evelyn Gardiner, of the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company. Members were delighted when Miss Gardiner spoke for more than half tin hour on women and the war, her advice receiving an excellent response from all those present. She was thanked by the president and hostess, Mrs. J. A. Doctor. Another guest of honour at the Lea was Mrs. A. 11. Allen, mayoress of Dunedin.

The rooms were very beaut ifully decorated with hydrangeas, and a large bowl of pink roses formed the centre piece of the buffet tea table.

Plunkei Society Meeting.

Mrs. J. W. Andrews presided over Ihe March meeting of the Lower Hutt branch of the Phinket Society. Nurse Davies reported a busy month and that 2253 visits had been made. Mrs. F. M. Renner, president of the Taita-Knox branch, reported that the work was progressing well in Hurt district, and presented £5O front that branch. The house-to-house collection which is at present taking place will conclude in the middle of this month.
