12 Months’ Imprisonment
“I don’t think any ship would want him with his record,” remarked Mr. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court, 'Wellington, yesterday, after Mr. IL H. Boys had pletided that Gordon Alexander Anderson, labourer, aged 23, might be allowed to return to lhe sea. Anderson, who appeared on a charge of unlawful conversion of a car in Christchurch, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment with hard labour. The car was valued at £2OO. Anderson converted a car outside a Christchurch theatre, mid while driving it incurred £22 worth of damage, said Detective-Sergeant W. McLennan, prosecuting. Handing over Anderson’s list of previous offences to the magistrate, Detec-tive-Sergeant McLennan mentioned that it was n bad one.
