GERMAN INFLUENCE

All Out For Diversion in Far East LONDON, February 23. The Director-General of Information at Singapore declared today that Germany was moving heaven and earth to persuade Japan to become more hopelessly involved by attacking British and Dutch possessions in the Far East, and so create diversions, which was all Germany cared about. He was broadcasting advice on airraid precautions, and advised the people of Singapore to keep their equipment ready. He said that if the worst came to the worst the position was as satisfactory as they had any right to expect, with Singapore a fortress, protected by guns, planes, minefields, the Navy, and thousands of British, Indian and Australian troops.
