NOTICE OF DANGER

Central Mediterranean Waters

(British Official Wireless.)

i Received February 23, 7 p.m.) RUGBY, February 22.

Italy recently announced that a large area in the central Mediterranean is dangerous to shipping. Britain has also given notice of an area in the Mediterranean as dangerous to shipping.

Malta is the hub of this central Mediterranean area. Lines enclosing the waters now perilous to shipping extend south from “The Heel” of Italy to a point off Cyrenaica, then eastward to French territorial waters off the Tunisian coast. North-western points in the “danger square” include the Sicilian Channel and the Bonifacio Straits, west Sardinia.
