Army Team Plays In Wellington UNIVERSITY IN FORM Century To P. D. Wilson Au interesting' event on the Wellington Cricket Association’s programme on .Saturday afternoon was the first appearance of an Army team in action in Wellington this season. This match was played on the Unit Recreation Ground, and the men in khaki held their own well with the scratch Wellington eleven opposed totliem. The Wellington side scored 172 for eight wickets and the Army team had 118 on for the loss of six wickets when stumps

were drawn at 6.30 p.m. Though conditions were ideal, poor scoring was seen in the majority ol the senior championship games playeih Jhe exception was the solid total of 33.> run up by University against Wellington College Old Boys on Kelburn Park. I. D. Wilson, the captain, played a masterly innings of 156, and B. A. Paetz reached S 4, the pair adding 127 for the fourth wicket. Old Boys responded with 96 lottwo wickets. Good bowling by .1. Ashenden, T. Russ, and R. Allen, backed up by fine catching, saw Kilbirnie dismiss Institute Old Boys for 99 in their first innings on the Kilbirnie Recreation Ground. Kilbirnie replied with 207. O. L. Wrigley and R. Parry reaching the forties. Institute had 19 rims on for the loss of one wicket in their second innings. Karori could only score 147 in thenfirst innings against Wellington on Ka-i-ori Park.' Modest as was this total, it was much beyond Wellington’s powers, as a great burst of bowling by G. Dickinson, the onetime Otago and New Zealand speed merchant, who took six wickets for 25 runs, saw Wellington all out for 70 runs in their first innings. Karori, in their second knock, lost three wickets for 24 runs.

Small scoring marked the game between Midland and Hutt on the Hutt Recreation Ground. Splendid bowling by C. Muir, who captured seven wickets for 44 runs, saw Midland fall for I;>6 in their first innings, W. Hepburn top-scoring with 38. Hutt, at stumps, had lost six wickets for 105 runs, J. Wall doing best wth 32. R. O’Neill swung the ball in the air in puzzling fashion in taking five wickets for 49 runs for Midland. Detailed scores were :—
