TE ARO BATHS
Mixed Bathing Advocated
Tlie Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, at a meeting this week, set up a sub-committee to confer with tlie city council concerning repairs to Te Aro baths and facilities for mixed bathing, • children’s pool and flood lighting. A proposal was made that the centre partition should be removed, thus forming a single pool suitable for mixed bathing. It was pointed out that the piles in this partition were unsafe, being rotted above and probitbly below the water-line, and that the suggestion was not it revolutionary step as there were few baths in New Zealand nowadays which did not cater for mixed bathing. Diving boards, preferably three metres, were recommended for the Thermion baths.
March 1 and Easter Monday were approved as the dates for tlie Wellington club carnival and the University swimming tournament respectively. The seventh round of the water polo competitions, postponed last week, will !.<■ played this week.
