MAORI REMANDED ON ASSAULT CHARGE

Woman’s Skull Possibly Fractured When a Maori appeared iu the Magistrates’ Court. Wellington, yesterday, charged with assault, the police asked for a remand because the woman allegedly assaulted was in hospital aud the extent of her injuries was nor yet known. It was suspected that her skull was fractured. David Waitoa, labourer and soldier, appeared before Mr. Stout. S.M.. on a charge of assaulting Maud Waitoa. Senior-Sergeant G. J. Paine prosecuted. The -magistrate remanded Waitoa for one week.
