THAILAND POSITION
No Change In Relations With Britain LONDON, February 13. An official denial has been issued in Bangkok of a rumour that Thailand has granted the use of airports io Japan. However, it is revealed that negotiations have been concluded permitting Japanese commercial planes to use the former Air France route direct from Bangkok to Saigon instead of the longer route along the gulf. There has been absolutely uo change in relations between Britain and Thailand, said a high Government authority. He emphasized that there was no .misunderstanding whatever between the two Governments, and pointed out that there had been the customary courtesy between two Governments of an exchange of information on defence preparations in their respective territories adjoining the Thai-Malayan border. Therefore, Press reports of military and air force reinforcements on the Malayan side of the bolder did not come as a surprise. The Japanese general who yesterday was reported to be on a visit to Bangkok, has now flown back to Saigon, according to a Tokio message. It is said that, while he was in Bangkok he had talks with the Prime Minister of Thailand am] with other important officials. His talks are said to be connected with the Tokio conference, which is trying to settle the dispute between Thailand and Indo-China under Japan's auspices.
