THREE APPEALS FAIL

WANGANUI, February 5
Three appeals for exemption from military service on the grounds of conscientious objection were dismissed by tite W/inganui District Armed Forces Appeal Board today. A fourth appeal on the same grounds was adjourned sine die with a recommendation for alternative service.
The board sitting in Wanganui consists of Messrs. A. Coleman, S.M. (chairman), T. B. Ewens and T. R. Lees. Mr. C. IL Clinkard appeared for (lie Crown. Appeals on the grounds of conscientious objection by William John Cooper, John William Rogers and George Ayson Watts were dismissed. Undue liartl'ship was an nddiiioniil plea by Cooper, but this was also dismissed.
Bernard Stanley McFarlane’s appeal on conscientious grounds was adjourned sine die with a recommendation for alternative service. His appeal on grounds of undue, hardship was dismissed.
