SICKNESS BENEFIT
Woman Misleads Officials (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) ASHBURTON. January 31. Frances Banner pleaded not guilty in the Magistrates’ Court today to three charges of misleading officials with the object of obtaining social security benefi ts. Evidence was given that accused received a sickness benefit of £1 a week. When the doctor was too busy to see her to renew the certificates, she signed them. Accused was convicted and placed on probation for three years. She was also ordered to repay £2O/4/- at the -ni o of !<)/. weekly
