iIEL!(>H)Lfe SERVICES CHRISTADELPHIAN LECTURE ON BIBLE TRUTH iGod willing) J 0.0. E. HALL, ALLEN STREET, SUNDAY AT 7 P.M. Subject: “THE TERROR OF THE LORD” “KNO W ING, THE K E FORE, THE TERROR OF THE LORD, WE PERSUADE MEN.” (Paul—2 Cor. 5:11). The Holy Scriptures reveal that God is not only a God of Love, “gracious, long suffering, plenteous in mercy and in truth,” but they also reveal that “our God is a consuming tire" (Hebs. 12:29), a "great and terrible God” (Nell. 1:5); there have been evidences of this in the past, hence the Apostle Paul could write "Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord” and the Scriptures reveal that there will be evidences of it again iu the future. Consider the following:— (1) Adam and Eve experienced "The terror of the Lord” when, because of disobedience, they were expelled from Eden to experience sin, suffering and death. (Gen. 2:17. Geu. 3:16-24, Gen. 5 :5, Roms. 5:12). (2) "All flesh” in the days of Noah experienced "The terror of rhe Lord” when, because they had "corrupted God’s way upon the earth" tlm "flood came and destroyed them all.” (Gen. 6:5-17, Gen. 7-1, Gen. 7 :21-23, Luke 17:26-27, Hebs. 11:7, 2 Peter 2:5, 2 I’eter 3 ;6). (3) The peopled Sodom and Gomorrlm, "wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly” experienced "The terror of the Lord” when “fire and brimstone from heaven” turned their cities into ashes and destroyed them all (Gen. 13 ;13. Gen. 19 :24-28. Dent. 29-23. Luke 17:29. 2 I’eter 2:6. Jude (4) The Russians and the Germans and their allies will in the very near future, experience "The terror of the Lord” when “God's fury comes up in His face” and their armies suffer destruction upon the Mountains of Israel (Ezekiel 38:14-23, Ezek. 39: 1-16, Zech. 14:2, Zech. 14:12). (5) The rejected at "The judgment scat of Christ” (When He comes) will experience "Tile terror of the Lord" when, “with weeping and gnashing of teeth,” they depart from Christ, to suffer “shame and contempt,” and, finally, “the second death” (2 Cor. 5:10-11, Hebs. 10:26-27. Roms. 14: 10 2 Tim. -1:1, Matt. 25 :31-46, Roms. 2:5-9. Luke 13:25, Matt. 25:30. Dan. 12:2, Rev. 2:11). (6) Mankind generally will experience, "The terror of the Lord” during the coming “War of the great day of God Almighty" — drastic world-wide Divine judgments executed by Jesus Christ and His immortalised Saints in the process of establishing the universal KINGDOM OF GOD upon earth (2 Thess. 1:7-9, Jude 14-15. I’sa. 119: 5-9. Hag. 2:7. Isa. 2:1021. Isa. 26:20-21, Isa. 66:15-16. Jer. 25:30-33. Micah 5:15, Mai. 4:1-3, Hebs. 12:26, Isa. 26:9). “THE LORD JESUS SHALL BE REVEALED FROM HEAVEN WITH HIS MIGHTY ANGELS. IN FLAMING FIRE. TAKING VENGEANCE ON THEM THAT KNOW NOT GDI). AND THAT OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.” (Paul—2. Tliess. 1 :7-9). Questions invited. No collection. If unable Io attend write "Bible Truth.” c/o above ball, for free literature.
