USEFUL FIELDS

Wellington Trots

HORSES IN FORM

Concluding Day Today (By OVBHOHECK.) The Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting will be concluded today, and it seems unlikely that there will be any dividend approaching those paid by Mohican and Channel Fleet. On the other hand it may be that some of the southern horses that failed on Thursday will do better today, as they will have had time to shake off any ill-effects of the trip up from Lyttelton. The fields are much the same as on Thursday, but in some instances the distance has been varied, and this too, may cause an alteration in form. Horses likely to receive support are: — Progressive Handicap.-—Danzie Guy, Chateau, and Highrate. Woburn Handicap.—Kaulala, Swagger Jack, and All Gallant. Wainui Handicap.—Grattamta, h ull Hand, and Channel Fleet. Wellington Trotting Cup.—Gold Bar, Fremont, and Zincali. Navy Handicap.—Reception, Mute, and Dark Hazard. Waiwetu Handicap, — Neutrality, Statuette, and Positive. Ferry Handicap.—Kid M olf, Single Star, and Little Derby, . Au Revoir Handicap.—Special Edition, Blue Diamond, and Coquette. The card is as follows: —

According to the Sydney “Morning Herald” sales of New Zealand thoroughbreds to Australia are not now as attractive as formerly. A recent offer of £5OOO for one was turned down on the grounds that of the sum received the owner would be called upon to pay more than half to the Government by way of special taxation.
