Iler ninetieth birthday was celebrated yesterday by Mi’s. Josiah Turtley. 5(1 Taylor Street. Avondale South, one ot Hi' oldest residents of Auckland. I'.orn on January 3, IS.’il, in London. Mrs. Turtley arrived in Auckland with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. U. Turk, in ISGO, in the ship Cadueeoiis. She Ims spent almost the whole ot her life in Hie Auckland district wilh Hie exception of brio!’ visits to Melbourne and Sydney, where one of her brothers, Mr. AV. Turk, is still alive at 97 years of age.
Iler late husband, Mr. Turtley, arrived in New Zealand it’s a young baby witli liis parents, Mr. and Mrs. Artbui Turtley, in 1842. They had six children, nil of whom are living. They are: Mrs. 11. Viggers, Avondale; Mrs. L. ilitrrop. 56 'Taylor Street. Avondale South: Mrs. J. E. Scott, Point. Chevalier: Mrs. A. S,.eed, Campbell's Bay: •Messrs. Turtley, Te Arolia ; H. Turtley, Point Chevalier, There are 19 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
