Markets Practically At A Standstill (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 27. Grain and produce markets are practlcirlly at a standstill. Apart from holiday inactivity, merchants tire reluctant Io undertake any business till the new season’s crops are offered and the market has had time Io settle down. The new year will epen with stocks of most lines in small compass and with very lilile of good qiurlily available. Algerian, and Dun Gats are an exception, as of both these there is some holdovers, though it is not large. The new season’s oats should be arriving soon, and .some small seeds. If the present weather keeps up the earlier harvested wheat should begin to make Ils appearance about the middle of next month. The price for this harvest is the same as for the last at. 5/9 a bushel f.o.b. for March Tuscan.
