OUTBREAKS OF FIRE Two Wellington Calls
The Wellington Fire Brigade received two calls yesterday. One was to a private hotel, and the second to a garage at Seatoun, where a motor lorry was on fire. Only minor damage resulted in each case. The first call was received ar 3.4 pan. to the Hotel Mayo, Marion Street, where slight damage wqis done to a bedroom at the rear of the ground floor. The outbreak was extinguished bv a bucket pump. A lighted cigarette _is understood to have come in contact with some clothing. Four machines from Central Station answered the call. Two machines, one from the Miramar sub-station, and another from the South Wellington sub-station, responded to a call received at 7.2 S p.m. to 51 Dundas Street. Seatoun. where a motor-lorry in a garage was on fire. The cab of the truck was damaged, and slight damage was caused to the garage and some property it contained. The owner of the lorry is Mr. 11. M. McFarlane, wood and coal merchant.
