INCREASE IN SUBSIDY
Voluntary Contributions To Kindergartens
Regulations gazetted this week provide for an increase in the Government subsidy paid on the basis of voluntary contributions secured by kindergartens. The general effect of this amendment is that the subsidy will be. increased from 25/- to £2 for every £1 raised by kindergartens, There arc also regulations authorizing school committees to pay insttranee premiums on school equipment, sm-li as pianos and radio sets, where such equipment Ims been bought, by committees. The cost of these policies will be inet out of Slate grants to school
committees. A further amendment protects the rights of certain contributors 'to the Teachers’ Superannuation Fund where they proceed overseas with the armed forces. This protection is similar to that afforded contributors in the last
The regulations also enable members of the armed forces who have not completed their apprenticeship to sit for the teehnicology examination.
