CHERRY BLOSSOM TIME AT PALMERSTON NORTH
Cherry blossom time in Palmerston North is eagerly awaited annually by nature iovers. The blooms will be at their best from October 6 to 13, and the mile-long Esplanade through which it is necessary to drive to reach the motorists’ camp will exhibit a profusion of glorious, bloom. Visitors from all over New Zealand make a pilgrimage to Palmerston North to see the cherry-blossom in full flower. The addition of a palm drive through graceful Phoenix Canariensis which have shown remarkable growth under the treatment of the curator, Mr. P. Black, is a feature which should not be missed. The reputation of Palmerston North as a garden city is well maintained. The early season has produced blooms of lilac, tulips, wisteria, and many other flowers. The municipal garden in the centre of the business area has recently been remodelled to obtain an uninterrupted view of the gardens which at present are a picture of reds, yellows and pinks. Fitzroy Park, Terrace End, until recently a gravel pit has been transformed into a park with crazy paths, streams and flowering shrubs. Motorists visiting the city to see the flower parade will find a well appointed camp site ideally situated between the Mnnnwatu River and a splendid 18-hole golf course.
