The offer has been warmly welcomed, and Edmonton, in Kentucky, United States, and the Australian Edmonton will, it is anticipated. also participate in the funds. Among the contributions toward the Allied war effort from overseas is one of £lO.OOO from East. Africa, from the Kickuya. Kaniba and Merit tribes, to be devoted Io British aircraft production. Of £4ooo.received by the British Government from Swaziland Protectorate the proportionately large sum of £BOO was subscribed by tile Swazis. The Lord Mayor's fund for London air raid distress has benefited by a contribution of £5OO from the Bahamas Red Cross.
The British Government lias accepted with gratitude an offer by the Kenya and Uganda Railways and Harbour Administration■ to lend the Government the second loan of £lOO,OOO free of interest for the duration of the war. The first loan of £100,0(H) was made in July. The Nawab of Bahawalpur has given £7500 toward rhe purchase of aircraft.
TEN-YEAR EXTENSION
Thailand’s Constitution
SINGAPORE. September 20. Tlie Thailand Assembly agreed to extend the Constitution for another 10 years. Sixty members of the Assembly signed a document which they submitted to the Premier undertaking to enlist for service in the front line in the event of Thailand becoming involved in war.
