EFFECT OF RECALL OF DIPLOMATS
Reorientation Of Policy
LONDON, August 23.
The Tokio correspondent of "The Times” says that the wholesale recall of Japanese diplomats purges the service of many of the more liberal and abler elements, who are less Impetuous than their critics at homo. They have always been a thorn in the flesh of the extrem'sfs.
Though the Foreign Office spokesman emphasized that neither personal merits or demerits nor Japanese policy toward the countries concerned was giverned by the recalls, "The Times” emphasizes that the purge is part of the reorientation of diplomacy which was planned when tlie formation of the present Cabinet was discussed with the army.
