.Vosseler Shield Teams’ Race SCOTTISH RETAIN TROPHY Bright sunshine and a particularly gruelling run .tailed 10 affect the enthusiasm ot barriers who gathered at Lyall Bay. on Saturday to compote in the Vosseler blncia teams’ race, and the majority managed to complete the .10 miles. The Scottish Club, the previous holders, again managed to retain the shield. Kennedy (Methodist) was the first man home, hie time being 57.50. He was closely followed by Goudie (Scottish), uB.il. and Owens (Wellington) was third. The course, which started from the western end ot the beach, led over the lower part ot the loothills to Monorgnn Road and Broadway, thence along Coutts Street and Onepu Road to the bench, ending the first lap, the runners carrying on round the same course but running to the end ot Coutts Street and along Queen's Drivp to b Thyberg Street. The shield is awarded on the placlngs of the lirst 10 men home of each club. After the race Mr. F. W. Vosseler presented the trophy. Results:— Scottish, 111 points, 1; Presbyterian, 308, 2- Brooklyn, 310, 3; Methodist, 308; University, 399; Wellington, 439. In the following placings (S.) signifies Scottish, (W.) Wellington, (U.) C *"The Scottish team was: Goudie, Rid 7 din'gton, Bourgeois, Violich, Woodley, Cox” Silver. Garty, Bartlett, Henderson Bantist Club.—-The club held a CJ-mlle run from the Khandallali Parish Hall. The trail led along the road to Johnsonville, Un on to the hills and back to the Khan-dallah-Johnsonville road. A run of threequarters of a mile resulted as follows;— Fast pack, G. Voller, 1; M. Richardson, 2, K Munn, 3. Intermediate pack: 8Grainger, 1; F. Farrow. 2; P. Kendon. 3. Presbyterian Club.—The of the club who did not compete in the Vosseler Shield event had a club run from the Lyall Bay sheds on Saturday. The club s ranks are now very depleted, as a total ot 31 members are serving in either the army, navy or air force. Of these 26 are now overseas or about to depart. Next week’s run will ’be from the home of the patron, Mr. A. Martin, 71 Messlnes Road. Karori, when club photographs wil. be taken, and for this purpose all members are urged to attend.
