Late Archbishop’s Pastoral GREAT BRITAIN’S FIGHT Cardinal Goma. Cardinal Archbishop of 'Toledo aud Primate of Spain, whose death was reported on Saturday, on May 23 last addressed, from his sickbed, a pastoral exhortation on the occasion of tlie celebration of the festival of Corpus Christi. He pleaded that tlie people “in these sad moments when Europe ble_eds,” .should turn to Our Lord. “Catholic Spain," the Cardinal said, "cannot, remain indifferent as the war spreads, and as it gradually comes to see through the barrage of German propaganda, which since the war began has made an overwhelming effort to overcloud the real issues that are at stake. “More and more Spaniards are beginning to realize that the manhood of France and Great Britain, joined by the legions of Poland, Czechoslovakia, Norway, Holland and Belgium, are fighting not for territorial gains, but to .ensure respect for engagements in short, to vindicate the Christian spirit of morality invoked 'by Pope Pius XII in his Encyclical.”
