OBITUARY
Mr. A. Mackie
A. well-known farmer in the Ongaonga district, Hawke’s Bay, Mr. Alexander Mackie, has died in Te Awanga <rt the age of 77 years, says a “Dominion” Special Service message. Mr. Mackie was born in Forfarshire, Scotland, and came to New Zealand 56 years ago. He took up farming at Forest. Gate, Ongaongir, and after 32 years there he retired to live in Te Awanga. His wife survives him, and there are three daughters, Mrs. JO. G. Lewis, Auckland, and Misses Mae and Winifred Mackie, both of Te Awanga. and four sons, Messrs. A. Mackie, Ttrkapau, R. Mackie, Ongaonga, W. Mackie, Takapau, and D. Mackie, Ongaonga.
Mr. J. F. McKendry
Air. J. F. McKendry, who died on Saturday, was proprietor of McKendry's Hotel, says a “Dominion” Special Service message from Christchurch, lie was previously in Branson's Hotel. Dunedin. lie owned a number of trotters, including Logan Chief and Belinda. In his early days lie was a prominent footbaiter mid president, of the Athletic Football Club He wirs also a keen member of lit'-' Avondale Golt Chib.
