OPERA HOUSE

“Comedy Week” at the Opera House having proved such a tremendous success, the management yesterday launched a “Cheer-Up Week,” and from its reception it should prove even more popular than its predecessor. The programme comprises “Judge Hardy and Son” and “Swiss Miss.” “Judge Hardy and Son” is a further record of the fascinating adventures of the famous Hardy Family. This time, Andy Hardy, son of the family, turns amateur detective to help his father in a law case, and becomes involved with three pretty girls who fill his life with trials and tribulations. More upsets occur when his mother becomes ill. For a dark hour the family fear they will lose her, and it is this episode that Andy inspires his father to new courage in a poignant dramatic scene, as well as turning hero and piloting his sister across a raging Hood to reach their mother’s bedside. The crisis however, and his mother recovers. .With Andy extricating himself from the entangling girls, all ends well. Mickey Rooney. Lewis Stone. Cecilia Parker, Fay Holden. Sara Haden, and Ann Rutherford maintain their roles of previous films in the popular series, and three refreshing young girls, Juno Pressier. Martha O’Driscoll, and Margaret Early, are introduced to plague the great puppy lover. A most palatable feast of fun is providcd by “Swiss Miss.” As mouse trap salesmen, rarely have Oliver Hardy, nnd Stan Laurel been so thoroughly amusing.
