A Jersey Sire For Nelson Mr. L. A. Higgins, whose Waikari Jersey stud evokes such favourable, comment from breeders visiting the Nelson district, has purchased, through the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile AgencyCo., Ltd., ri handsome yearling bull, Croydon Soumise Supreme, from Mr. W. Crosby, Croydon, Stratford. The youngster is a son of Glamorgan Soumise Pride, who is a full brother to Glamorgan Soumise Viola, \ .H.C., now just (iuishing her test as a three-year-old with over (1001 b. fat, and a great show cow. Iler record includes firsts and . reserve championships at Uawera and Strntlord as a two-year-old, and she was champion at Stratford last season. The dam of Mr. Higgins’s purchase is Croydon Kern’s Marie, V.H.C., a cow which produced 0111 b. fat as a junior two-year-old, and took third place in the Manawatu Oaks. She is now again under C.O.R. test and is expected to complete with over 9001 b. fat. She is a daughter of Fern Queen Sybil, C. 8.8., and is a sister to another big producer in Crovdon Fern's Queen, V.H.C., also again under lest and promising to exceed 9001 b. fat. With the production blood behind him—for apart, from his immediate ancestry he traces to the 1000-pound cows Vive La France and Vivandiere, to Xenia’s Oxford Lad, with tested daughters up tfr 9501 b. fat, and to KCB and The Squire, and both dominant ’ butterfat bulls—he cannot fail to be prepotent.
