RIDDING SHEEP OF WORM PARASITES

Will Stop Losses of Meat and Wool

. All live stock are subject to parasitic infestation of one form or another. There are many varieties of worms, but they all have a similar destructive effect. . They suck the blood of the animals, producing anaemia, loss of condition; sap the animal’s vitality and cause unthriftiness by the poisons which they leave in z the animal’s system. They also impair digestion and gastric disorders. The resulting loss of condition from worms is a real menace and is responsible for losses aggregating millions of pounds every year in mortality and under-production.

Worms differ in appearance and selectivity as regards the seat of attack, so the method of fighting them must, be varied

Waiting until the stock become badly infested before taking action is one of the principle causes of the loss which farmers suffer. It is imperative to act as soon as the worms make themselves evident. It is not difficult to ascertain the extent of worm troubles amongst your stock if you act upon the following suggestions: 1. Closely examine all animals killed on the farm to determine what periods worms make their appearance. 2. Examine body discharges of all live animals for parasites or fragments. 3. Note the difference of animals of different ages. 4. Observe seasonal, conditions. 5. If feed is poor or short and sheep are slipping, supplement the feed with artificial food. This may appear to be expensive, but it will prove itself right in the long run. Look at it this way. An animal takes enough food to keep itself going, so if the animal suffers from parasitic infestation it means that the animal is not getting all the food it should, and the condition and constitution will be impaired. Fighting Parasites: Lay down a programme of treatment so as to attack the worms early before they have had time to do the animals any harm and exercise care in selecting the right type of worming medicines. When it is known that one infected sheep will spread enough eggs to reinfect 100 others, the necessity for early attack is realised. No matter what form of infestation the battle is won by, attention to, the animals’ food, elimination of the parasites and control of reinfestation. This can be done by selecting the correct remedies and administering them judicially at the correct time

Bio Worming Medicines: There are the result of knowledge gained in extensive research work —not of theoretical conclusions. For instance; over 200 post mortems of fheen. were made to discover effective drugs. These proved that drenches, efficient against certain types of parasites, were innocuous when a different worm had to be dealt with. Bio Worming Medicines for sheep include 8.W.K., Likunie Flukure, Lung • Worm Injection, etc.; for horses, etc., Bio Worming Medicines and Bot Bombs.
